About Me

Perhaps your child has developed a love for the drums in music class…

Maybe they're bursting with boundless energy and need a creative outlet to channel it. As a child, I personally encountered both of these experiences. Learning the drums not only unleashed my exuberant energy, but also opened up a world of endless possibilities for self-expression. I would lose myself for hours, joyfully exploring the limitless ways to convey my emotions through the vibrant beats of the drums.

My musical journey has led me to some really amazing places where I’ve continuously found myself in leadership roles. After many years amongst the music community I noticed a lack of qualified and passionate teachers, and a plethora of teachers who view teaching music as a mere chore in their busy schedules and fail to actually connect with their students. I realized I was recognizing a significant gap in the music community. Determined to make a difference, I decided to step up and embrace my genuine passion for teaching. Why settle for instructors who prioritize their own gigs and frequently cancel lessons? When you choose to learn from me, your time is valued unconditionally. With a smile on my face and no distractions, I am fully dedicated to providing you with the focused attention and quality instruction you deserve.

As a jazz musician, I have had the opportunity to perform with top-tier artists, including:

  • Fred Foss (Ray Charles)

  • Dave Manley (Jill Scott, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Herbie Hancock)

  • Ameen Saleem (Roy Hargrove)

  • Ted Nash (Jazz at Lincoln Center)

  • Keyon Harrold (Gregory Porter)

  • Elijah Balbed (The Blackbyrds, Chuck Brown Band)

  • Steve Novosel (Elvin Jones)

  • Herb Scott (Chick Corea)

As a former member of "The Commandant's Own," The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, I have expert experience as a drummer and instructor in Washington D.C.

I perform and teach various styles of music, including jazz, funk, hip hop, rock 'n' roll, and rudimental drumming.

Since August 2022, I have been leading the Howard University Thunder Machine Drumline. In this role, I oversee rehearsals, break down techniques, facilitate music instruction, and encourage a high-energy performance.

In my role as a private teacher, I have a studio with more than 15 students. I teach rudiments, drum set fundamentals, and music theory. I offer drum lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels. My teaching approach is student-based, allowing students to lead themselves through a self-constructed curriculum. I demonstrate, play along, and provide guidance when necessary to help develop a mature sound and mindset.

Any night of the week, you are likely to catch me performing at various events in DC. I also have experience as a studio musician and can record remotely from my home.

Take your child’s drum skills to the next level
